Sleeping away to glory :)

Have often heard educative lectures about the necessity of sleep in one’s daily routine.
“All work and no sleep makes John a dull boy”…”What is all the work ..the efforts worth if you are not able to make time for a peaceful sleep.”..”The body needs it”………blah blah………There are enough people to take care of the deprived people.
What I plan to write is for some people who sleep rather luxuriously like me.…;-)

“Hey...How was the weekend? what did you do”
Have heard many times and replied many times as …..”Slept full time lazily!!!!”. A huge smile with super cool confidence at probably having done the greatest thing possible………
Have experienced sometimes that sleeping is a way out of boredom...staying awake one would not know what to do ..so just sleep..!!!
But may be its time we utilize the spare time that we have in slightly more efficient way if possible…..like….call up some old friends….read a magazine…listen to music….clean up/order some messed up things around u, gardening, visiting places,…just lay down and ponder about things around u……
Coz sleeping takes away from one his/her feeling of his/her existence. Because may be at a later stage it would be disheartening to realize the number of moments lost in inertia and how huge the total sum of such moments would be at that time….
Lets see if I can improve……………….It never too late to realize and start afresh… :) And all the best to u 2!!!Cheers!!!

Vividha Bharati

It is an FM channel on National radio at 102.9 MHz.

These days we do have numerous radio channels catering to the metro audiences playing the hit numbers always and offering contest and prizes.

What makes vividhbharati is their whole program format which is very different from the other channels, that is they are probably not running to just make money(I have nothing against other channels absolutely..).

Apart from having slots for popular requests they also play the music which is not acclaimed universally but then still having its own identity. They pay tributes to some very unnoticed legends.
I have mainly heard 2 programs…
Jaimala-
It’s a program dedicated to the Indian soldiers .And some of the letters they read from the soldiers leaves one numb. The commitment of the soldiers make me feel guilty of being too self centred and lost in some very insignificant things on the larger perspective.
Like the other day…a mail was written by a Jawan conveying to his parents that he is fine and not to worry about him, asking his siblings to study well and convincing them that as his leave did not get approved he would be coming sometime after another 8 months…at that time he was on border at temperature blow 0…I know all this sounds very melodramatic….but even if these things are not supposed to move us/arouse the conscience what else will????
Sakhi-Saheli
A program catering to requests of women listeners all over India. In this program got to hear about how the women are managing multiple things and trying to come out of certain age old bindings in rural places. Its awakening.

Sitting in the cold AC cabin in our companies… vivdh bharati opens a world ..that is the core part of India. And am glad I am able to tune into it sometimes. The show anchors there…though not the high fundoo RJs have connected with the audience in their long stint with the channel. Its definitely not a preaching channel. It is a fun channel but rooted safely in reality.
Three cheers to vividhbharati.!!!!! Its fantastic to rock that wayJ

But another face to this is the fact that we got our radio sets repaired only after Radio City and other channels came up.

Would just like to end saying that..3 cheers to the variety in life.. that has given provision for channels of different kinds to coexist supporting each other…competing with each other and getting better each day!!

Hopping around doing shopping!!!

Often one spends a lot of time in the glitz world of consumer durables. Have often been a part of and observed the crowd that is going round and round about the absolutely happening malls in Bangalore these days.
Have never been able to find joy in such an outing and often wondered if anybody really does…..Not that I hate shopping but then definitely don’t believe that it is a way of recreation. Being in a big mall makes me feel pathetic. There are obvious good things around me ..but still it’s a feeling of being lost…a feeling of helplessness when you believe that the new mobile u buy..the new dress that u see..the new watch that ticks…..add spice to your life….is this the only way out??????????????

I have mobile…but sill wanna check out on a new model with certain other features. I have quite a number of dresses. but then haven’t bought anything this weekend..!!!! Have a pair of new sandals…but heard that 'X' brand is more comfortable and trendy too….
If not for all these lackings how would we spend our weekends??????????

But then…..if there is no demand for better products..there wouldn’t be any production. And no production..boley toh no progress…and no work for all of us in different service sectors. Be it a watch company which innovates new designs or a software company that provides enhancements…we would have no work, if people would just say satisfied with what they bought yesterday…..and that would mean a dead end!!

There is absolutely no conclusion in this account. Its just a debate between the wise and the otherwise. As the diplomatic people would probably put it: ”a thin line of separation is but essential between the needs, the luxuries and the fantasies”.

Would just like to end saying that..3 cheers to the variety in life.. that has given provision for people of different opinions to coexist.
