Reading--->>A hobby?A boon?an elite qualification?
My ealiest memories of reading goes back to the days of my middle school.
Apart from the monthly magz like Gokulam,Champak...wisdom..I used to read and read the adventures of...
Secret 7,famous 5,hardy boys...Nancy Drew being the dearest. Was so crazy of reading those mysteries then....
After that was a completely lull decade for my reading......Never actually read anything much in the years to follow....
Strange!!!!Though there were lots of book related discussion and stuff happening around me..I never read...I have never believed in forcing anything on myself(hehe...thats the secret y am like this ;)))) True that I have lost on some valuable time...but if reading also were to be forced upon it would cease to be a pleasure:) wat say??
I did read book or 2 towards my last year of degree......Books included.......
Sense & Sensiblity....(ppl say its 2 good but it just did nt touch me...was just like I was reading a tv soap)
2 /3 novels...of Agatha Christe.....ya..they were fine enuogh.......
If tomorrow comes-----that was one very gripping book I must say!!!!
Alchemist-different...
Anne Franks Diary-...a very beautiful book...just touches u.......
The deep rooted desire to read sprouted finally one day .....and I rediscovered the passion for reading.Realised that reading is a boon !!! It gives one the feeling of independence....Isnt it gr8 that u can be happy by urself........and also feel good about that......??????And the society as such does not look down upon it ;-)) <>
In this spell I have completed:
1. 5.Someone
Fun Book.Nice timepass.
2. The FountainHead
Damn Nice.
I am so so glad I read the book.
Not for the character of Roark, but for the entire book, entire content. All the characters are etched well and the book leaves one spellbound .How much symapthy I had for Gail Waynad when I read the book......Love the characters and the plot:).Even enjoyed the way architecture has been used.
3. To Kill a Mocking Bird
Kept wondering what is happening in the book and finally when the I finished it ,it had left its trace in subtle way.
Mr Atticus is such a rolemodel gentleman.I liked the scene where he expains his daughter what idefined as the strength of a person. His daughter's character too is amazingly simple and real.
4. Tuesdays With Morrie
An ok book.
5. City Of Joy
Just in awe of the author who wrote this.
Very nice detailing,so true to the way life is.
Both the agony and the hope are described in a realistic way without exaggeration.
Love the last sentence of the book...
6. GodFather
An asusual story..May be it seems to me so for I watched the bollywood flicks inspred by it first and then read the book.
Somthing that I appreciated were few of the action scenes.Had never thought action could be
expressed in terms of words so well.
7.Love Story.
Guess I read it too late in life...Finished the book and smiled ...thats it.:)
Next on list...
Reading Da Vinci Code currently...
Further on have bought Mein Kemph,Atlas Shrugged...
Wanna read Freedom at midnight(Had bought this book inspired by a favo English teacher in 12th..read it only mid way..Its been 10 yearns since then.........)
Gone With The wind...
There is one kannada book left in midway(maimanagala suliyalli-Dr shivaram Karanth)..Wanna desperately finish that also....
Oh ya...missed out on one very important book I have read in my lifetime....MAHABHARATA.................Guess I am just qualified well enough to appreciate it...but I thouroughly thoroughly enjoyed reading it..................
Happy reading friends!!!Rediscover the joy of reading peacefully...(lying on the bed with music on for the not so good habited friends like me ;) )
